Our Approach to Strings
Every violin, cello, viola and upright bass teacher on the Family Music Centers team is degree verified and background checked, then hired directly by us rather than brought in through an outside agency. That means real range, from proper bow technique and posture to classical repertoire, orchestral training and beyond, so it's easier to find someone whose teaching style actually fits how you or your child learns best.
Whether it's violin, cello, viola or upright bass, lessons happen in person at our Las Vegas and Centennial Hills studios, where we've been teaching since 1995. Students track real progress through our Milestone Program and get to perform at recitals throughout the year, so learning a string instrument always feels like it's building toward something.

Strings Lessons for Kids

Beginner String Lessons
No experience needed to start violin, cello, viola or upright bass. Whether you're four years old or forty, our teachers meet you exactly where you are.
Adult String Lessons
Flexible scheduling for adults picking up violin, cello, viola or upright bass for the first time, or returning to a string instrument after years away.
Advanced String Instruction

Julian Romano
Cello
A classically trained cellist and founding member of the Fiore Quartet, Julian served as principal cellist of the Dr. Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas for four seasons and has performed at major events across the Vegas Valley, including the 2024 F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Pre-Race Show.
Elizabeth Parker
Violin
A violinist with nearly 17 years of playing experience, Elizabeth performed with the Las Vegas Youth Orchestra for seven years and currently plays with the UNLV Chamber Ensemble and Las Vegas Summerlin Symphony. She began her own violin studies at Family Music Centers and is proud to return as a teacher.
Gary Reid
Bass & Piano
A bassist since grade school and a music instructor for over 35 years, Gary holds a BA in Music from Cal State Northridge and has performed with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra and Sammy Davis Jr.
